You'd never believe that this gorgeous mama is due in just a few short weeks! She's tiny and perfect.
They had just moved (I think the day before?) so we shot around the boxes ... although you'd never know it; they had the place looking amazing in just that quick time.
Dad's quite the artist ... simple, yet adorable, line drawing of a baby girl. Super cool.
The artiste with his work. :)
The masterpiece. Not to mention the cool drawing. :)
Miss B. shares my proclivity to be camera-shy, believe it or not! I kept her busy with horsey stickers, checking for sea monsters (there were, thankfully, none at the beach that day...whew!) and making sure her Daddy wasn't giving me bunny ears (he totally was ... I caught him at least once). After a few short minutes, Miss B. forgot that she wasn't a supermodel, and I have a new friend and some shots that I am completely ga-ga over.
She woke up the next morning asking to do pictures again! Yay! :)
I love, love, love that we did a remake of one of my favorite shots of all time ... I wish you could see the baby. He was actually having a snack at the time.
Little brother in all of his adorableness.
Is he not the cutest little person in the world? Kids like this make my job easy-peasy! LOVE his great big smile!
Awesome bride-to-be and her groom. How much do I love it when clients show up wearing a tulle skirt and a tuxedo-T? Rad.
Kaisa emailed me a few weeks ago, in love with my funky style that SO fits their quirky personalities, and making big promises if I could make it work. Miss K, I'm still waiting for that hair to get dyed RED!
This is SO them. I kept hearing about the Jim Carrey impersonations ... too cute! Can't wait to photograph your wedding, guys. See you in a few weeks!
Any chance to drag the furniture outside, I'm there! I love the way furniture becomes a part of a family's history, and even more so when I can incorporate it into their family photos. I try to warn my clients, and I think it's evident from my blog here, that anything in your house is fair game ... it's going to end up rearranged and used for props, and most likely taken to the most unlikely place ... in this case, a lovely path, strewn with autumn leaves, leading to the woods.
This guy had me cracking up the whole time. The awesome pose was his idea. :)
Okay: I promised you guys a joke, since I completely dropped the ball during our session. Since it's almost Halloween:
Why are graveyards so noisy?
(Because of all the coffin.)
It's *almost* as funny as your Poo(h) joke, right? That was a pretty good one.
For the readers:
Why did Tigger look in the toilet?
He was trying to find Poo(h)!
So inappropriate. *Snicker*
Sweet boys with their mama. These might be my faves from their session. Maybe.
So, ten-year-old boys are not usually a big fan of having their photo taken, unless it involves something gross or some kind of goofy face. So picture day, for them, is often anticipated as torture; who wants to get all dressed up and stand around looking nice all day? Actually, as far as that goes, I can't think of any guy OVER the age of ten who doesn't agree.
So you know I was happy to get an email after our session, with this kid's review of my performance: "Mom, that lady is the best photographer I have ever worked with!" Mostly, I think he was impressed with my booger jokes, but I can't really say for sure.
I can't WAIT to use this location again. I thought it was an abandoned barn that was being torn down, but it belongs to this wonderful bachelor, who agreed to let me use it as long as I bake him cookies.
I had to include this Octobery-haunted house-looking one. =)
Kids outstanding in their field. Har har.
This summer, my friend Carrie found me through this blog post when I blogged about our high school friend's new twins. We'd been out of touch since a lifetime ago ... so many things (and so many kids!) have happened since the good ole' days when we used to find inventive ways to spend our Friday nights (hey Dad --- it was Carrie's idea to drive the car backward through the breezeway --- not mine! Who knew the doors on the Datsun would be crushed shut for good? I'm not admitting any culpability, not at all.)
This is her lovely oldest daughter, who I had not seen since she was a chubby little baby (she didn't remember me...) Between the Oregon storm, which almost filled up my convertible (my hubby had wedged my new blue chair into the tiny back seat, and the only way out was through the roof) and her stinker of a horse, who at one point during the session tried to follow her into the office at the barn ... (dork) we were lucky to get ANY shots at all. She's such a trouper and a natural beauty, though, so I think we did okay!
My cutie on her first day of school.
I have to register to vote before the deadline in a few days, and I can't decide whether to list my car as my primary residence, or my house. It's impossible to say where we spend more time these days. I should just install my coffee maker right into the dash, and maybe a microwave, and we'd be all set. Add a mini fridge and a washer and dryer, and we could just call it home.
Our actual home is wonderful and cozy and perfect. It's starting to feel more like home with every box that I unpack. I have a sweet little office that's tucked away with a window overlooking the back yard, and little visitors who scatter their toys everywhere and chatter non-stop. I'm looking forward to some senior pics and family portraits in the next few weeks, and I'm really excited for my October 4th trip to the Vancouver/Portland area to shoot some seniors and families there. I do have a couple of openings left that weekend, so if you need me to book you a spot, send me an email and I'll hook you up!
We're off to the big city, which means that I will be out of the office, so to speak, until I can un-bury it from the piles of boxes ... about two weeks. During that time, I will have no internet access, but I will be checking e-mails occasionally from wherever I can grab a few minutes to pop in to a Starbucks.
Drop me a line, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can! I will start taking appointments for sessions again in the 3rd week of September, so if you would like to schedule something, let me know and I'll get you on my calendar!
We are all buried under stacks of moving boxes here, in between a flood of house showings and trying to somehow squeeze in all of our back-to-school preparations and a trip to the beach, so no time for a long post, but I have these cutest little people here that I've been dying to share! Brooke fell out of bed last night at 3 am, and of course SHE went right back to sleep, but I could not, so I stayed up and knocked out this sneak peek instead. Insomnia is a girl's best friend! :)
These are the 2-month photos of the newborn twins from the spring.
Baby girl KK. She's such a love, and so calm and content. Darling. When I saw this chair at their newborn session, I knew it was going to be hauled out to their beautiful garden, but the twins were just too new and Seattle weather is too cold in the spring to go outside with new babies! So ... yay for July! :)
((Ugh...no clue why my images keep getting cut off. I've tried six ways to Sunday to upload them. I think it's time for a new blog with BIG images, don't you??) :)
Some of the two together:
We had to race, because even in July, it rains in Seattle! (She is on the left, he's on the right.)
Baby boy KK:
He was NOT happy when it started to sprinkle! We did these so fast!!
He looks exactly like his beautiful mommy. So cute. :)
And, saving the best for last ... big brother! Such a happy, sweet little person. He was at school at the twins' first session, so I was thrilled to get a handful of shots of him while I was there this time!
Can you believe that gorgeous blonde hair? I hope he likes having his photo taken: I think I have found a really cute new model! Ha! Since my own kids run away when they see my camera. :)
So much for "not enough time for a long post" ... whoops! Okay ... now I must get myself to Starbucks to pick up some more boxes (how perfect is that? Anyone who knows me, knows that my car does not know how to drive PAST a Starbucks without stopping ... so convenient to pick up my packing boxes there, as well. They're sweet to keep them for me. :)
